My husband and I decided early in our marriage, even if we have kids, we would still travel. And we've always liked the finer things in life. We have done a great job of holding to our promise! We quickly realized this cabana became the central “home base” that made our entire day smoother, cooler, and easier to enjoy. We left all our belongings in the shade; equipment, wetsuits, snorkels, life vests, and belongings while we walked around the park hands (and bag) free.

From the moment we checked in, our host helped us plan the flow of our day — suggesting the best times for experiences, reminding us where to be and when, and answering every single question before we even thought to ask it. Step 3: Let Your Host Handle It All
Discovery Cove is packed with incredible experiences, but like most family adventures, navigating timing and logistics with four kids could’ve easily turned chaotic.

Thanks to our host:
We had priority check-in and valet parking
He created a custom itinerary to maximize every moment
He kept us on time all day (a small miracle with toddlers)
And somehow… no one melted down. 😅 In part, that was due to the unbelievable amount of extras in our cabana...
Theme park stress? Gone. Wandering aimlessly trying to find the dolphin experience? Nope. It was all handled.
Step 4: Get Treated Like VIPs (Even Your Toddlers)
While my husband and I took our older two kids for the bucket-list dolphin RIDE, (AND SHARK SWIM) our host stayed beachside with our toddlers — in the shade — providing them with toys and snacks and making sure they were happy and entertained.
That level of care? Priceless. This was a TRUE superhero moment for us because I was so worried the younger ones would feel left out or scared to be with a stranger, but they could have cared less because he made their experience JUST as fun.
Step 5: Enjoy the Cabana Comforts All Day Long
Let’s talk about what came with our cabana, because these little details made a huge difference:
A fully shaded, ultra-comfortable cabana.. there was a hammock, which doubled as a swing for the kids 😳 plus a table and lounge chairs for naps, snacks, and recharging
Guaranteed views of the Dolphin Lagoon 🐬 and steps to the Grand Reef!
Towel service (because soggy towels and kids = not fun)
A mini fridge stocked with Coca-Cola products + bottled water.. Florida is HOT y'all! stay hydrated!
Complimentary snacks - This made a huge difference because my kids don't eat a lot at meals.. they have tiny tummies (and attention spans) so they are HANGRY within hours. This was completely avoided because there was cheese itz, pretzels, plantain chips, lays, and sweet treats also that the host made sure to keep well stocked.
Reef-safe sunscreen (thankfully — because we forgot ours)
Reserved seating at Laguna Grill (the food was amazing!)
Access to exclusive animal encounters
It was the kind of setup that makes you actually relax — and that’s not easy when you’ve got four kids.
Step 6: Make the Core Memories You Came For
Because we weren’t juggling schedules, snack breaks, sunscreen applications, and meltdowns…We were free to be present.
We swam with dolphins, snorkeled with sharks and rays, and floated down the #1 lazy river in the USA — all without rushing, arguing, or stressing. 🐬🦈💦
It was the kind of day we’ll talk about for years.
